Message Design
What’s the hardest part of writing? For our students, it’s often organizing their thoughts.
With Message Design — graphic organizers based on four types of rhetoric (Structural Description, Process Description, Comparison/Contrast and Definition) going back to the time of the Greeks – they learn Western logic and have a tool to form compositions. We have adapted the original Message Design (Boast, W. Message Design, Kendall-Hunt Publisher, Dubuque, Iowa, 1970-71.) for English language learners. Using the Cue Card symbols of the Attribute Cards in conjunction with the Message Design forms, even our Beginner students can have the happy experience of success in writing in English, as they move from words to sentences to paragraphs to written compositions.
