The Brains Behind the Systems.
Just in case you were wondering, here's a bit of info on the people that make AIMS English tick.
Barbara Vaille
Barbara Vaille is a native of Denver, Colorado. Her lifelong interest in international cultures and people led her to travel all over the world, including a two-year stint in the Peace Corps in Morocco. She speaks Spanish, French, Moroccan Arabic and, of course, English. Barbara has her Masters in the Art of Teaching from the University of New Hampshire, and has been teaching English for more than thirty years. Awards include the Gladys Doty Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession of ESL from the Colorado Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages organization, and The Team ESL Teacher Award from The Colorado Adult Educators Professional Association.
Barbara is the Co-Director of AIMS English, which she and her work partner, Jennifer QuinnWilliams, founded in 2006 to formalize the teacher trainings they started several years previously. Philosophically, Barbara thinks all adult students should have the benefit of a trained, passionate, competent educator, which is why she’s so enthusiastic about presenting AIMS English to the world. A reader and a gardener, Barbara has two grown sons and lives in the Capitol Hill neighborhood where she was born.
Jennifer QuinnWilliams
Jennifer QuinnWilliams is the co-founder and co-director of AIMS English. She grew up in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South America, which opened her mind to cultural adventures and instilled in her a love of travel. Jennifer received her Master’s in Business Administration from George Washington University with an emphasis in International Marketing. A lifelong learner, she is nearly finished with her MA in Curriculum and Instruction (ESL) from the University of Colorado at Denver. Before joining Barbara to teach English in 1996, Jennifer worked as a real estate market analyst, put her interest in writing to work as the editor of two trade magazines, and owned a small business. She shares Barbara’s passion for excellent, teacher-tested, research-based English teaching. She is a 2004 recipient of the Colorado Department of Education/Colorado Adult Educational Professional Association Team ESL Teacher of the Year Award. A skier, reader, writer and yogini, Jennifer shares her 110-year-old home with her husband and two teenage sons.
